CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY
For the woman who likes to carry two cities, two prayers, and one piece of gold.
This reversible Florin coin pendant is a faithful reproduction of the Fiorino d'Oro, the gold florin minted in Florence from 1252 onward and the currency that turned the city into the financial capital of medieval Europe. One face carries the Giglio, the lily of Florence; the reverse carries Saint John the Baptist, the city's patron saint. Both sides are framed by a polished twisted rope border, and the pendant is meant to be turned at the throat depending on whether the day calls for the civic or the spiritual side of the city. Available in solid Italian gold, struck with the corresponding millesimal mark and the registered Italian provincial hallmark that identifies authentic provincial goldsmithing.
The Florin is the oldest Florentine signature in jewelry. The double-face medal as a wearable coin was perfected by the goldsmiths who took the Ponte Vecchio after 1593, when the Medici officially registered the bridge as the home of the trade, as a piece that held the two prayers of the city, the civic Giglio and the patron saint, on a single disc.
This is the pendant for the woman who reads Florence as a city of two faces, and wants to carry both. The piece that turns the throat into a small private altar.
It reads heritage. It reads devotional. It reads as a piece of Florentine history struck in gold.
